Sundowners Club History
The Sundowners 4x4 Club was started about 27 years ago by a group of folks who loved the sport and concentrated mostly on the racing side of 4x4 activies. The Sundowners were allied with Great Lakes Fourwheel Drive Assn. for a long time. Eventually the Sundowners love for racing faded and the club found themselves enjoying the trail rides and other aspects of fourwheeling and parted ways with Great Lakes. The Sundowners are currently associated with Rustbelt 4x4 Trailriders Assocation on the regional level and United Four Wheel Drive Associations on the national and international level.
The name "Sundowners" was chosen because the club found out that every time they went fourwheeling, intending to be home before dinner, they found themselves out long after sun down trying to get themselves out of whatever prediciment they found themselves in.
